It may be difficult to find endangered species on the prowl, but the rainforest habitat has plenty of mammals, like civets and flying lemurs, and spectacular rainforest insects to show-off to you.

Flying lemurs are just cool. Also called colugos, they don't actually fly but hang glide with a skin membrane attached to all its limbs. Only found in Southeast Asia, find these night time flyers clinging to large tree trunks. See this species at Perhentian Island, Tioman Island, Maxwell Hill and other forest habitats.

Civets are civets not cats. They are mostly active at night and can be found in trees and on the ground. Most civets have a pointed muzzle and long tail. Find these quiet creatures in forests and plantations, including Maxwell Hill and Cameron Highlands.

This is one beautiful butterfly despite the video quality. Named after James Brooke, the Rajah of Sarawak around the 1850s, by Alfred R. Wallace, Charles Darwin's colleague, it is now considered a world class insect. Go see for yourself at Hutan Lipur Lentang and Ulu Geroh.
