Flying lemurs are just cool. Also called colugos, they don't actually fly but hang glide with a skin membrane attached to all its limbs. Only found in Southeast Asia, find these night time flyers clinging to large tree trunks. See this species at Perhentian Island, Tioman Island, Maxwell Hill and other forest habitats.

Civets are civets not cats. They are mostly active at night and can be found in trees and on the ground. Most civets have a pointed muzzle and long tail. Find these quiet creatures in forests and plantations, including Maxwell Hill and Cameron Highlands.

This is one beautiful butterfly despite the video quality. Named after James Brooke, the Rajah of Sarawak around the 1850s, by Alfred R. Wallace, Charles Darwin's colleague, it is now considered a world class insect. Go see for yourself at Hutan Lipur Lentang and Ulu Geroh.

The Matang mangrove forest is a good place for anyone to get a natural education. An easy side trip from Taiping, take the time to explore this coastal habitat that supports waterbirds, fisheries and charcoal production.

Nestled amid gorgeous rainforest habitat, the Chamang tropical waterfall is a jungle oasis just off the Karak Highway.When you want to escape the city or just find a travel idea for kids, then head over to Bentong for a day trip.

A colonial relic, Frasers Hill is full of history and natural splendor swathed in blankets of cloud forests. Nestled in the lower mountains of the Main Range, this highland destination is probably the most beloved of Malaysia's hill stations.

For a special hiking experience head to Klang Gates Quartz Ridge. Only 200 metres wide and made mostly of quartz, the ridgetop stretches over 22 kms. It's a tough climb but the views are spectacular. Go in the early morning to avoid the sun and find a picnic spot.
