Find A Rainforest Retreat

Kuala Lumpur Weekend Getaways get you out of the city and into the relaxing and adventurous atmosphere of the tropical rainforest. Why not spend a weekend or a few days experiencing the great outdoors and tranquil settings of energetic days and quiet nights.

Nature Escapes is always on the lookout for new places to enjoy time away from the hectic pace of life in the capital city. Sometimes we find interesting rainforest lodges and jungle trail trips with unique attributes and other times they find us.

So we decided to start listing these private Nature Getaways to alert you to what's available nearby to Kuala Lumpur.

If you're wondering, Nature Escapes are usually wild destinations and jungle habitats that you explore on your own. Nature Getaways are organized by private operators that plan and schedule your entire outing.

Nestled among a valley of orchards, an Orang Asli village and a rainforest, The Dusun is only an hour away from Kuala Lumpur and offers a unique experience to relax in comfort amid peace, privacy and green space.

Restored Malay style chalets remain out of sight from each other and provide scenic views of the jungle and the Berembun Forest hills, a protected habitat used by the local Temuan community.

Linger in the shaded environment and poolside sights or try one of the jungle trekking, waterfall, river or wet market activities.

No time to visit a National Park? The Rainforest Experience offers a convenient alternative for anyone wanting to spend a half-day trekking in a Malaysian jungle.

Located near Janda Baik, less than an hour away from Kuala Lumpur, an experienced nature guide takes you on a journey through the rainforest abutting the private Tanarimba nature reserve, part of the Main Range forests.

The three kilometer trek starts early in the morning with a briefing on rainforest ecology and conservation and follows a trail with spectacular valley views. Only two groups (minumum - 4; maximum - 10) are allowed into the reserve each day. This helps preserve the environment and ensures a better jungle experience for participants.

After three hours of a moderate trekking pace, you can rest up along the forest stream before devouring a traditionl Malay lunch. Finish off your trek by descending down the river path to the main road to end by 1:00 pm.

With several attractions nearby (Elephant Sanctuary, Deerland, Orang Asli Museum), you have time to fit in a second activity before heading back to KL.
