It's easy to get to and has plenty to offer for everyone.
- How about hiking with kids on one of the walking trails cutting through giant trees and cool streams.
- Maybe you want to test out the mountain biking trails for a great workout.
- Or check out the view from the rainforest canopy walkway, a rare sight from the treetops.
Biking, hiking, walking and trekking the jungle habitat are favourite activities as trails are packed with outdoor enthusiasts to prove that FRIM remains one of the best weekend getaways. It can get crowded, so hit the trails to get deeper into the rainforest landscape by going birdwatching or try out your jungle photography skills. Stop along a trek on the Salleh Nature Trail or Keruing Trail to explore a small tropical waterfall or marvel at the variety of trees in the rainforest. FRIM Nature Landscapes: General Map
FRIM Nature Landscapes: Canopy Walkway
The Rainforest Canopy Walkway is a pleasurable stroll in the treetops. Built 30 metres (100 feet) high on a forest slope and secured to giant tropical trees, it offers unique panoramic views for every visitor. The suspension bridge walkway is 200 metres (680 feet) long with 3 wood-decked observation platforms. High side-netting, wire cables and a solid wood footpath keep kids safe and parents relaxed. Actually kids tend to zip right past the more nervous, shuffle-footed adults. Getting to the walkway is on steep terrain that shows off the beauty of FRIM nature landscapes. And it's good exercise. Take your time - about an hour - by either going up the Rover Track or Sungai Kroh Waterfall route. Each trail requires visitors to be fit or smart enough to stop and rest and drink water. Remember the rainforest climate zaps your energy like a sponge. Your rewards for reaching the top are the refreshing treetop breezes and cool views from the walkway. Canopy Walkway Information Open to public: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday From 9.30 am – 2.30 pm only

FRIM nature landscapes let's you choose whether to stay on the main trails or venture further along the green path. There are 3 key hiking trails that traverse the slopes behind the buildings. Each of these trails has a different character if you take the time to observe:
| Keruing Trail |
30 minutes |
An easy stroll with 26 stations that teach about the bark, leaves, buttress and crown of timber tree species |
| Salleh Trail |
45-60 minutes |
This path angles up the hill slope and merges with the Keruing Trail before veering downhill towards the Rover Track. Some spots are marked with stations, but its best just to take a camera and find little surprises in the niches. |
| Engkabang Trail |
30 minutes |
Starting across from the traditional house and exiting at the Dipterocarp Arboretum, this flat forest path crisscrosses a stream and mushy wetland. |
The Rover Track is the starting place for mountain biking trails. If it's your first time just follow the crowd or return the exact way you came. Other tracks lead out of FRIM to an isolated steep hill forest and another goes all the way to the Sungai Buloh Hospital. None of the biking trails are well marked and only those in FRIM are maintained. Even when you're on a bike trail thrashing over rainforest habitat, wildlife still persists. Sometimes - OK one time - a wild pig bolted out of the woods to snort up a few roots in a nearby agriculture patch. And, if lucky, maybe you'll hear the whoosh-whoosh of hornbills flapping in flight. FRIM Nature Landscapes: Nature Education Centre
Environmental education is part of the green package at FRIM. Besides the rainforest trails, the Nature Education Center offers a chance to raise awareness among kids and adults. Nature outings can last from a day-trip to nearly a week and the NEC arranges all facilities, food and materials for a great jungle escape at FRIM nature landscapes.
